Quaker oats but it looks really fattening with all that butter and sugar ! I want a good tasting cookie but would like to cut fat in half . I refuse to use artificial sugar or anything else artificial.

    Soft Oatmeal Cookies
    INGREDIENTS
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon fat free butter flavored granules
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup white sugar
    2 egg whites
    1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    DIRECTIONS
Set oven rack in the middle and preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Whisk together flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside. In a large bowl, mix yogurt, butter-flavored granules (Butter Buds), brown sugar and granulated sugar until combined.
Add egg whites and vanilla, mix until just combined. Add flour mixture and mix until just moistened. Stir in oatmeal.
Drop dough by level tablespoon onto to cookie sheet lightly sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake for 8 minutes. Press center of cookie; if it springs back, it is done. Store in airtight container, these cookies do not keep well at room temperature. Store in the refrigerator.

Applesauce or applebutter can be used to replace three quarters of the margarine called for in a recipe and the remaining quarter can be replaced directly with plain-old shortening! Just add the Applesauce with the liquid ingredients of your recipe and the shortening with the ingredients where the recipe called for margarine. Using Applesauce also allows you to reduce the amount of refined sugar in your recipes. It is inexpensive and can be found in any grocery store. Give it a try!
    Bannanas!
Bannanas are another great margarine substitute! You can substitute measure for measure. This works best for desert recipes, but I’ve used bannanas as a margarine substitute with surprizing success in breads as well.
Then with the sugar – you can replace with sugar substitutes, or even half real and not.

You can use half oil and half fruit puree (applesauce does the trick).
I mostly replace oil with applesauce. I do a lot of fat free baking and applesauce works pretty well.
    Enjoy your low fat cookies!

Sure low fat margarine and Splenda Brown sugar blend, instead of eggs use apple sauce, the oats will be the beckon of the low fat area, I make them and muffins that way, just a bit of milk and baking powder and you have the other.
